Overview

The orange-throated tanager (Wetmorethraupis sterrhopteron) is a species of bird in the tanager family Thraupidae, currently classified as Vulnerable on the IUCN Red List. It is a threatened species found very locally in humid forests around the Ecuador-Peru border.

Habitat

This species inhabits humid forests and is found very locally in the region surrounding the Ecuador-Peru border.

The genus Wetmorethraupis was created to honour the American ornithologist Alexander Wetmore by combining his name with the type genus of the tanager family, Thraupis.
