Black-capped White-eye

Overview

The Zosterops atricapilla is a small passerine bird belonging to the family Zosteropidae. It is currently classified as a species of Least Concern on the IUCN Red List.

Identification

• Length ranges between nine and eleven centimetres.
• Back is olive green with brown irises.
• Bill and feet are black.
• Vocalisation consists of soft twitters.

Habitat

This species inhabits mountain forests and alpine meadows at altitudes between 700 and 3000 m. Its range is restricted to the mountains of Sumatra and Borneo, with notable presence at locations such as Mount Kinabalu, Gunung Mulu, and Mount Batu Patap.
