The Mauritius grey white-eye is a bird species in the family Zosteropidae that is endemic to the island of Mauritius. It is one of only two white-eye species found on the island, alongside the rarer Mauritius olive white-eye.

Habitat

This species inhabits woodlands, forests, and gardens within its limited range on the island of Mauritius.

Did you know?

The bird was initially described as a wagtail by Johann Friedrich Gmelin in 1789, based on earlier accounts by the Comte de Buffon, before being reclassified into the genus Zosterops.
