Overview

Zosterops simplex, commonly known as Swinhoe's white-eye, is a bird species in the white-eye family, Zosteropidae. It was formerly considered a subspecies group of the Japanese white-eye but was elevated to full species status in 2018.

Habitat

The species is found in eastern China, Taiwan, north Vietnam, the Thai-Malay Peninsula, Sumatra and Borneo. Populations have also been introduced to Southern California, where their numbers are expanding rapidly.
